Valley Health Foundation is proud to announce Dr. KR Sridhar, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Bloom Energy as this year’s honoree at the 5th annual Tribute to Heroes Gala. Dr. Sridhar and Bloom Energy have been invaluable champions and partners of Valley Health Foundation since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, and their support has been unwavering.
Early in the pandemic, Bloom Energy, under the leadership of Dr. Sridhar, led a fundraising effort gathering $125,000 in private donations from various academic institutions, healthcare providers, and corporations enabling Valley Health Foundation to purchase a mobile Covid-19 vaccine van, the “Vax Mobile.” The Vax Mobile enabled Santa Clara County Public Health to deliver more than 83,000 vaccines and other crucial services to the county’s most at-risk residents and in neighborhoods of the greatest need. Bloom Energy and Dr. Sridhar’s support also allowed for the distribution of Covid-19 testing and personal protective equipment (PPE) during a critical time during the pandemic. This van now serves as the vehicle for Public Health’s Mobile Response Team allowing them to offer additional vaccines such as flu, Tdap, mpox, RSV, and Hep B.
In 2021, Valley Health Foundation launched its first ever Stars and Strides 5k-10k race. With little time to prepare, Dr. Sridhar and Bloom Energy stepped up as the title sponsor and helped raise over $250,000 in its inaugural year. Since that time, with Dr. Sridhar and Bloom Energy as a steadfast partner, the Stars and Strides event has raised over $1.2 million, providing much needed services to some of our county’s most underserved residents.
In addition to directly supporting the health of Santa Clara County residents, Dr. Sridhar and Bloom Energy hold a deep commitment to creating sustainable and resilient communities in the face of climate change. Bloom Energy helps critical facilities which residents, patients, and businesses rely on to overcome extreme weather events and eliminate air pollution.
