The Susanne B. Wilson Women and Children’s Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center

In 2014, SCVMC began transforming its women and children’s services into a more welcoming, family-centered environment. By consolidating Obstetrics, Maternal Fetal Medicine, and Pediatrics into one space, the new Women and Children’s Center provides a higher quality, more efficient care experience.

A Legacy of Leadership In 2018, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors named the facility in honor of Susanne “Susie” B. Wilson, a pioneering political leader and co-founder of the Valley Health Foundation. Her legacy continues to inspire positive change in healthcare.

Donor Impact: Transforming the Space Over the past decade, Valley Health Foundation has partnered with SCVMC and SV Creates to bring locally inspired art to the Center. Each floor features interactive, culturally rich artwork to help patients, families, and staff feel supported and connected.

Pediatrics The department offers comprehensive pediatric care, including a pediatric ICU and one of only two CARF-accredited Pediatric Rehabilitation Units on the West Coast. Donors fund full-time Child Life Specialists who provide vital emotional support for hospitalized children and their families.

Family Baby Unit (Postpartum Care) Renowned for safety and compassionate care, the Family Baby Unit features 30 private rooms for mothers, babies, and families, promoting bonding and better health outcomes.

Labor & Delivery and NICU The Women and Children's Center houses award-winning labor and delivery services and a cutting-edge Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Valley Health Foundation donors provide crucial funding for innovative technology like Giraffe Beds and Panda Warmers, as well as the NICU Family Support Program, which offers emotional support for families navigating the NICU journey.

Valley Health Foundation donors continue to make a profound impact, improving care, comfort, and outcomes for women, children, and families.
