Michael Elliott is the President & Executive Director of Valley Health Foundation, the nonprofit fundraising arm of Santa Clara County’s public healthcare system. Michael joined the Foundation in 2007 and served as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer beginning in 2014. In March 2021, he became Acting Executive Director before being appointed to the position permanently on January 1, 2022.
During his tenure at the Foundation, Michael has led major capital campaigns, managed multi-million dollar grant projects, and launched numerous programs. Beginning March 2020, Michael coordinated daily Covid-19 relief activities at the Foundation headquarters, an effort that secured over five million units of protective gear for frontline healthcare workers.
Before joining the Foundation, Michael worked as a community organizer with Working Partnership USA and was an AmeriCorps member with City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley. Michael serves on the Board of Directors of CreaTV San Jose and the Healthier Kids Foundation and volunteers as a youth soccer referee. A native of Santa Cruz, Michael lives in San Jose with his wife Jessica, a public-school teacher, and their two daughters.
Michael holds a B.A. in Social Thought and Political Economy from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Certificate in Professional Fundraising from Boston University. He is a Fellow of the American Leadership Forum Silicon Valley, a recipient of the National Leadership Award from City Year, and the “40 under 40” Award from the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
